Adeline "Addie" V. Lightner, 85, of State College, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township.
Born on May 10, 1926 in Axemann, she was a daughter of the late George Thomas and Elsie (Shaffer) Walker.
She was married to Maurice Walter Lightner, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lightner was a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and attended Penn State University for classes in engineering.
She had been employed as an Electronic Engineer from HRB & retired from C-Cor.
Addie was a member of Mount Nittany United Methodist Church in Lemont. She enjoyed reading, oil painting, playing cards, boating at Raystown, collecting angels, cooking for her family, and especially, the time spent with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Abby V. Demko (Roy) of Houtzdale, and Bonnie Kaye Trumbin of Fulton, MI; one son, Douglas W. Lightner (Debra Jo) of Pleasant Gap; three sisters, Mary Gummo of Port Matilda, Florence Strouse (John) of Bellefonte, and Louise Crock (Robert) of Howard; one brother, Russell Walker (Shirley) of Boalsburg; four grandchildren, Melissa K. Brown (Jim) of State College, Allen Scott McMurtrie of Port Matilda, Christine V. Hann (Scott) of Philipsburg, and Deanna M. Confer (Justin) of Milesburg; and three great-grandchildren, Ashley K. Brown of State College, Melinda M. Gill of Virginia, and Scott D. Hann of Philipsburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida Anderson and Mildred Devlin and three brothers, Roy, Jim, and Charles Walker.
Family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until time of the Funeral Services on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, beginning at 3:00 PM at the Funeral Home with the Reverend Howard T. Woodruff officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Hall Cemetery in State College.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 E. Branch Road, State College, PA 16801.
