Albert (Butch) Lee Fetzer, 86, of Spring Mills and formerly of Boalsburg, died Saturday, September 17, 2005 at home with his family.
He was born April 17, 1919 in Milesburg, Boggs Township, the youngest son of the late Theodore and Chestie G. Inhoof Fetzer. On November 28, 1940 he married his loving and devoted wife of 65 years Charlotte Marie Knisley who currently resides in Spring Mills.
He was a self employed tavern and restaurant owner from 1955 to 1975. Later, he managed the VFW and the American Legion of State College.
He served in the military during WW II and was a member of and past commander the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 322, State College, and a member of the State College Elks Club and the American Legion Post 245.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his eight children, Albert (Butch) Fetzer and his wife Fay of Bellefonte, David Fetzer and his wife Judy of State College, William (Bill) Fetzer and his wife Barbara of Texas, Ivan Fetzer and his wife Melissa of Martinsburg, Dennis Fetzer and his wife Chong of Florida, Deborah Moore and her husband Jim of Tyrone, Charlene Harpster and her husband Jeffrey (Bo) of Penna Furnace, and Carmen Potter and her husband Tom of Spring Mills. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild and his two brothers and five sisters.
A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2005, from 4 - 8 p. m. at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service (Formerly Kyper Funeral Home) 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA, where fraternal services will be conducted by members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge 1600 at 8:00 p. m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a. m. Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the funeral home with the Rev. Todd Confer officiating. Military honors will be provided by members of the American Legion Post 245, State College. Burial will be private.
