Alberta (Abbie) Elizabeth Bathurst Horner, 88, of Boalsburg, died Saturday, March 04, 2006, at the Fairways at Brookline Village, in State College.
She was born August 27, 1917, in Juniata, PA, a daughter of the late Edward and Martha Temple Bathurst.
Abbie graduated from Altoona High School.
On April 2, 1942, in Altoona, she married Harold B. Horner who preceded her in death on March 28, 2003
Early in life she worked in restaurant at Murphy's five and ten department store in State College. Later she was employed in food service at Panorama Elementary School, retiring from that position.
She was a member of the former St. John's United Methodist Church in State College and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was an excellent baker having baked over fifty wedding cakes during her career.
Mrs. Horner is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lois, Naomi, and Onda; and one brother Edward.
Friends will be received from 1 - 2 p. m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral be at 2:00 p. m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Marlyn Rimmert, officiating Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
