Alfred J. LeBlanc, 87, of State College, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township.

Born on September 11, 1925 in Fitchburg, MA, he is a son of the late Hilaire and Alma LeBlanc.

On August 18, 1951, he was married to Jeanne M. (Huchon) LeBlanc who preceded him in death on December 21, 2005.

Alfred honorably served our country in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. LeBlanc graduated from Assumption College in Worcester, MA and Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. He then taught High School students in Brunswick, ME and From 1963 until his retirement, he was a Professor of French at Penn State University in State College, PA.

He was a member and attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, State College, PA.

Mr. LeBlanc is survived by two sisters, Annette LeBlanc and Claire Boudreau; two brothers, Norman J. LeBlanc (Annette) and Robert J. LeBlanc (Claire); and a sister in law, Jeannette LeBlanc.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Anne-Marie LeBlanc on November 24, 2003; one son, Daniel H.J. LeBlanc on September 24, 2012; and four siblings, Gerard, Theresa, Emile, and Pauline.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gerard and Jeanne Breault and Norman and Marian Freed for their kindness and care of Alfred.

A Memorial Mass on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, beginning at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA. Monsignor David Lockard will serve as Celebrant. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. LeBlanc's memory may be made to the choice of the donor.

The Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
