Anna Mary Geary, 99, formerly of Bellefonte, and Centre Hall, Pa., died on October 23rd, 2012 at the Rockhill Mennonite Retirement Community, Sellersville, Pa.
She was born in Bellefonte on May 15, 1913, the daughter of the late Calvin H. and Eliza B. Troupe. She was a past member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Bellefonte, and a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Tusseyville.
She was a graduate of Bellefonte High School. She graduated from the Germantown School of Nursing in 1938 and worked in several hospitals in the Philadelphia area specializing in pediatrics medicine. In 1950 she started working at the Centre County Hospital in Bellefonte. When the hospital moved to State College in 1972, she became the head night nurse, retiring then in1975.
She was preceded in death by her first husband John J. Fogarty, of Fishkill, N.Y. who died in 1977, and her second husband the late John Lee Geary, of Centre Hall, Pa. who died in 1999.
She is survived by her children, Richard Fogarty and his wife Barbara of Harrisburg, Pa., Carol Light and her husband Robert of Chalfont, Pa., and her sister Rebecca Stanley of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She has 5 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall on Friday, October 26th, 2012. A viewing will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at the Zion Hill Cemetery in Colyer Pa. following the funeral service.
