Arthur E. Erb Jr., 82, of rural Centre Hall, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
He was born January 1, 1925 at Selinsgrove, a son of the late Arthur E. Erb Sr. and Barbara Lucille Salter Erb.
On December 10, 1944 he married Marion J. Sauer Erb who preceded him in death on March 24, 1994.
Arthur graduated from Middleburg High School in 1943.
He served in the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
Mr. Erb worked at Renninger's Garage in Middleburg and later as an auto mechanic for E. M. Smith Motors in State College. He later went to work at Penn State University, retiring as foreman of Fleet Operations on December 31, 1986. Following his retirement, he drove school bus for Cole Transportation for twelve years.
Arthur was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Centre Hall and the Odd Fellows Lodge 1032 in State College.
He was an avid Penn State Sports enthusiast.
Mr. Erb is survived by a daughter Lauren E. (Will) Kunes of Millheim, two sons Joseph O.(Linda) Erb of Richmond, VA and Keith A.(Sherry) Erb of Reading; seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; a half sister Lillian Herrold of Port Treverton, and an aunt, Anita Keister of Middleburg.
Friends will be received from 6-8p.m. on Saturday, March 3rd at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be at 1:30 on Sunday at the funeral home with the Reverend S. Leigh Pick officiating. Burial will be at the Glendale Cemetery in Middleburg.
