Barbara L. Smitley, 64, of State College, died Monday, November 12, 2007, at her home in State College.
She was born August 2, 1943, at Oak Hall, a daughter of the late Wilbur Spicer Sr. and Sara F. Summers Spicer.
Earlier in life she was married to Donald L. Smitley.
Barbara graduated from State College High School in 1961.
She was employed as a clerical worker at Penn State University, retiring in March of 2007.
She was associated with the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Betty Styers and her husband Robert of Coburn, and Freida Jacobs and her husband Robert of Lock Haven; three brothers Roy E. Spicer and his wife Shela of Boalsburg, Bradley Spicer and his wife LeeAnn of Baton Rouge, LA and Michael L. Spicer and his wife Patti of Boalsburg; two sisters in law, Mary Spicer of Pine Grove Mills and Shirley Spicer of Georgia; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister Rena McCracken and two brothers, Wilbur L. Spicer Jr. and Glenn C. Spicer.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p. m. on Sunday, November 18, 2007, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA, with the Rev. George Burn officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
