Ben "Jack" G. Phelps, Jr. age 79, of State College, died Friday, September 26, 2008 in Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born September 12, 1929, in Chicago, IL, he was a son of the late Ben G. Sr., and Evelyn (Hopper) Phelps.
Ben was preceded in death by his wives, Pauline (Williams) Phelps in 1979 and Audrey (Warnets) Phelps in 2006.
Mr. Phelps was a staff /sergeant for the US Air Force during the Korean conflict, and worked for the US postal services for many years until his retirement. He was also a pilot, and a avid photographer.
He is survived by two sons; Barry Phelps and his wife Linda of State College and Terry Phelps and his wife June of Charlotte, NC; a daughter Holly Packard and her husband Scott of State College; a sister, Marion "Jill" Phelps of San Antonio, TX, seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, from 10:00 to 11:00 a. m. at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will be at 11:00 a. m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Timothy McGill officiating.
