Bernard "Bernie" E. Stitzer, 58, of Boalsburg, died Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Centre Community Hospital in State College, PA.
He was born February 10, 1945 in Bellefonte, a son of Marie M. Noll Stitzer, who survives at Rural Spring Mills, and the late Claude LeRoy Stitzer.
On May 15, 1993 he married Sharon Kay Crummey who survives at home.
Bernie graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1963.
He and his wife owned and operated Stitzer's Imprinting and Engraving Specialities in Boalsburg. Earlier in life he was employed by the University Area Joint Authority for 18 years.
He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Spring Mills, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks State College Lodge 1600.
Bernie's primary hobby and passion was his engraving work. He also enjoyed woodworking and NASCAR racing.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by one brother, Nevin L. Stitzer of Spring Mills; three sisters, Sue Gill of Centre Hall, Lynette Kojundick of Pittsburgh, and Loretta Jeffries of Altoona; a son Rodney, a daughter Leah, and a granddaughter Savannah; and his mother- and father-in-law, Harry Jr. and Freda Crummey of Boalsburg.
Graveside services will be held in the Boalsburg Cemetery at 10:30 a. m., Monday, July 28, 2003 with the Rev. Michael Smith Officiating. Friends will be received at the Gregg Township Fire Hall in Spring Mills immediately following the graveside services.
