Bernice A. Wallace, 96, of State College, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Centre Crest Nursing Center, in Bellefonte.
She was born July 6, 1910, in Potter Township, a daughter of the late Bruce Wilbur and Effie Elizabeth Burkholder Ripka.
On May 12, 1924, she married George F. Wallace who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wallace worked as a cook in Huntingdon and was a laborer at the Fiberglass Plant in Huntingdon and later worked at the Millheim Hotel.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Millheim, the auxiliaries of American Legion Post 779, Centre Hall and the V. F. W. at Potters Mills.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Solitaire.
Mrs. Wallace is survived by a daughter Wava Grove and her husband Paul, of State College; two sons, Harold R. Wallace and his wife June of Bay City, MI and Bruce C. Wallace and his wife Beverly, of Indianola, PA; one brother, Dean Ripka, of Centre Hall; eighteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mildred Dipofi; two sons, Frances Walter Wallace and Lester S. Stutts; one grandson; three sisters Zella Royer, Luella Ripka and Ruth McClintic; and one brother Paul Ripka.
Friends will be received from 11:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m., Monday, May 14, 2007, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will be at 1:00 p. m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Faith McCausland officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
