Betty Murray, 80, of Bellefonte, PA, died Sunday August 22, 2004, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College.
She was born Nov. 2, 1923 in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Harry C. and Rose Emel Martin.
On July 7, 1950 she married Kermit Murray who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1994.
Mrs. Murray graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1941. She worked at several area businesses including the Murphy Store in Bellefone and for many years worked at Penn State in the Dietary Department.
She attended St. Johns Lutheran Church in Bellefonte.
Mrs. Murray especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her family, cooking and reading.
She is survived by a daughter Peggy Sue Murray of Bellefonte; 3 sons, James Murray of Towanda, PA, Michael Murray of Bellefonte, and Douglas Murray of Greensboro, North Carolina; 2 sisters, Emma Lou Eckenroth and Peggy Riter, both of Bellefonte; and 9 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, June Witherite and a brother Kenneth Martin.
At her request there will be no public visitation. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Doyle H. Klinger officiating.
Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
