Betty L. Tressler, 85, of State College, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008 surrounded by her family at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-greatgrandmother.
She was born June 19, 1922 in Tyrone, a daughter of the late Roy R. and Ruth Viola Stine Crust.
On April 27, 1940 she married LeRoy Tressler who survives at home.
She attended Fillmore Elementary School and went on to attend Boalsburg Area High School.
She was a homemaker for many years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, home decorating for the holidays both inside and out, as well as camping and attending the Grange Fair. Along with her husband, she spent much time supporting high school wrestling as an enthusiastic spectator.
Above all else she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years; four sons, Gene Tressler and his wife Jean of Lewistown, Dick Tressler and his wife Betsy of Lewistown, Jim Tressler and his wife Sharon of Lewistown, Dan Tressler and his wife Sherri of State College; a daughter, Linda Pennypacker and her husband Ron of Sterling, Virginia; a sister, Audrey Breon of Milroy; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Brenda, a sister, Edna Mark and a brother, Dutch Crust.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 3:00pm Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm with the Reverend Ruth Peters officiating.
Burial will be at Meyer Cemetery in Bellefonte.
