Beverly H. Arney, 91, of Centre Hall, died Friday, October 7, 2011, at the Fairways in Brookline Village at State College.
She was born December 25, 1919, in Williamsport a daughter of the late Boies P. and Hilda Weisenberger Hall.
On June 29, 1946 she married Ralph M. Arney who preceded her in death on July 13, 1984.
Beverly was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in English and Latin. She taught at the Centre Hall Potter School and taught in the Bellefonte School District for many years. She was a dedicated professional teacher and proud of her profession.
Mrs. Arney was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Centre Hall where she was served on the Consistory as a Deacon and Elder and helped to publish the monthly newsletter. Active in her community she was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, served on the Penns Valley Area school board, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, and helped with the United Way.
Among the things she enjoyed most were spending time with her family, reading, writing, cross stitching, quilting, embroidery, and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving Mrs. Arney are two daughters, Gay J. Homan and her husband Roy of Centre Hall, Lynne J. Fryer and her husband Jake of Peach Tree City GA; and one son, Lance B. Arney and his wife Cathy of Spring Mills; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Arney was preceded by a great grandson Ryker Arney.
Friends will be received from 4 - 5 p. m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Trinity United Church of Christ, North Pennsylvania Ave. and Ridge St. in Centre Hall. A memorial service will follow at 5 p. m. at the church with the Reverend Audra Krise officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
