Beverly Olson Eckess, 80, of State College, PA, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the Fairways at Brookline Village, State College, PA.
She was born November 19, 1927, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late George Olson and Vivian Warner Olson.
On June 7, 1947, she married Edgar D. Eckess who preceded her in death October 7, 2004.
Mrs. Eckess is survived by two three sons Edgar D. Eckess and his wife Judy of Clearfield, James S. Eckess and his wife Jill of Bellefonte, and Jon O. Eckess and his wife Deborah or Pleasant Gap; one sister Lillian Carlson of Jamestown, NY; one brother Sanford Olson and his wife Phyllis of Jamestown, NY; six grandsons, and one great grandson.
Beverly graduated from Jamestown High School in 1946.
She was a member of the The Order of the Eastern Star, Noisy Needlers Knitting Club, Trout Unlimited, and The Nittany Valley Bird Dog Club. She enjoyed traveling around the United States, canoeing, and reading. She was an accomplished cook whose strawberry jam will be missed by all who had the privilege of eating it.
In her spare time she was a devoted volunteer for more than twenty years at the snack bar, at Centre Community Hospital, now Mt. Nittany Medical Centre.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, November 22, 2008, in the Sunset Hill Cemetery Chapel, 665 Hunt Road, Lakewood, NY. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Lakewood, NY.
In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to Centre Crossings Hospice, 2437 Commercial Blvd., State College, PA 16801; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
