Boyd D. Lucas, 85, of Spring Mills, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, February 22, 2008, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
He was born September 28, 1922, in Blanchard, a son of the late Richard O. and Alice Dorvit Lucas.
On September 25, 1945 he married Loretta Askey who survives at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters Carol Ann Hoskins and her husband the Reverend Michael Hoskins of Bellefonte, Cathy M. Long of Lewisburg, and Mary L. Lucas and her husband Carl (Ed) Lucas of Windburne, PA; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; five sisters, May Drayer of Bellefonte, Ola Fay Phillips of Hempstead, TX, Eva Stitzer of Bellefonte, Leah Walizer of Elizabethtown, and Iva Lutz of Bellefonte, and one brother, Harold "Bill" Lucas of Bellefonte,
A son Boyd A. (Sonny) Lucas preceded him in death in 1972. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Mindy Lucas, one sister Pearl Tyson, and two brothers, Donald Lucas and Arthur "Pete" Lucas.
Mr. Lucas served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Following the war, he worked at the former Titan Metals at Bellefonte, and later farmed in Nittany Valley, then farmed in Penns Valley, until his retirement.
He attended Penns Valley God's Missionary Church, Spring Mills.
He enjoyed woodworking, drawing and hunting.
Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Monday, February 25, 2008, at Penns Valley God's Missionary Church, Route 45, Spring Mills, PA, and from noon to 1:00 p. m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the church. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p. m. with the Reverend Gabriel Morley and the Reverend Michael Hoskins officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
