Bruce Leroy Hartley (Boop), 95, of Centre Hall, died Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
He was born July 9, 1912 in Laurelton, a son of the late Samuel and Lidia Rearick Boop. He was raised in Centre Hall by Levi Hartley and Katherine Rearick Hartley
Bruce married Ethel Poorman Hartley who survives at Centre Crest in Bellefonte. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Betty Wolfe and her husband Don of Spring Mills and Brucette Brown and her husband Myron of York; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Hartley graduated from Centre Hall Potter High School and served in the U. S. Army during World War II, from 1942 - 1945. He earned a Good Conduct Medal, an American Campaign Medal, a European African Middle Eastern Camaign Medal with Three Bronze Stars, and a World War II Victory Medal.
He worked as a mechanic at Hagan's Garage in Centre Hall for many years.
Bruce was an excellent gardener, an avid fisherman, and enjoyed hunting and mechanical work.
His memberships included Calvary Bible Church at Centre Hall, the Patriotic Order of the Sons of America at Woodward, and the Shady Hollow Hunting Camp at Renovo.
Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a. m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Gilbaugh officiating. Burial will be private at the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
