Bruce E. Lehr's Obituary
Bruce E. Lehr, 61, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
He as born August 10, 1950 in East Stroudsburg, PA, a son of the late Earl H. and Thelma Brown Lehr.
On December 20, 1975 he married Cynthia "Cindy" Weber who survives at home.
After graduating from Daniel Boone High School in Birdsboro, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in liberal arts at the Pennsylvania State University. He continued on working toward his master's degree in education completing the course work at the Pennsylvania State University.
Mr. Lehr spent most of his working career as a claims representative at the State College Social Security Office, where he earned several merit awards prior to retiring December 31, 2011.
Bruce was a long time member of the State College Christian Church where he had previously served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Bruce was a devoted family man whose faith was very strong and important to him. Among the things he enjoyed most were fishing, birding, and photography. He was also a gifted artist and writer.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Kathryn Lehr Beck and her husband Brandon of Huntingdon and Amanda Susan Lehr at home; one son Matthew Charles Lehr of State College; one granddaughter Rachael Ann Beck; and one brother John Charles Lehr of Williamsport.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister in law Joan Lehr.
Friends will be received from 9:30 a. m. to 10:30 a. m. August 4, 2012, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1250 Universtiy Dr., State College, PA. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a. m. at the church with the Reverend Vincent Smith officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
