Calvin "Winn" Witmer, 86, of Centre Hall, died Friday, August 15, 2014, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte, where he had been chosen Resident of the Month for August.

Winn was born March 2, 1928; in Buffalo Run, PA a son of the late John Edward and Lottie Emelia Garner Witmer.

On October 28, 1949, he married Alice M. Butts who survives at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.

Always a hard worker, Winn worked for E. H. Markle in Pleasant Gap as truck driver in building construction, later served as a delivery driver for Centre Concrete for thirty five years. After retiring from Centre Concrete, he worked with the grounds crew at Grange Fair for more than fifteen years.

He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and Progress Grange in Centre Hall and a life member of Centre Hall Fire Company, serving as a trustee for six years. He was a member of and active in the Centre Hall Lions Club for many years, serving as tail twister for ten years.

In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, refinishing furniture, gardening, attending Grange Fair and yard sales.

Surviving Winn in addition to his wife Alice are three daughters; Linda M Wooster and her husband Jim of Woodland, Connie L. Zellers and her husband Gary, and Jody L. Lair and her husband Bob all of Centre Hall; one son Calvin "Chip" Winn Witmer Jr. and his wife Ruth Ann of Bellefonte; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan and James Wooster Jr., Gary Jr. and Steven Zellers, Brett Witmer, Steven Rayhorn, and Nicole Wray; and fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Foust of Belleville, and Faye Davey of Axemann.

Preceding Mr. Witmer in death in addition to his parents, were seven sisters, Margaret St. Clair, Eleanor Guisewhite, Bernice Guisewhite, Grace Strickler, Jean Chilcoat, Pauline Bartlett and Betty Ishler; and two brothers, John (Dick) and his twin brother Alfred Witmer.

Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Monday, August, 18, 2014 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C. 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. An honorary Grange service will follow at 8:00 p. m. conducted by members of Progress Grange. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a. m. August 19, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Klimke and the Rev. James Wooster Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, W. Church St. Centre Hall.
