Carl C. Corl, 82, of rural Bellefonte, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Mt Nittany Medical Center at State College.

He was born May 5, 1926, in Axemann, a son of the late G. Fred and Ruth Markle Corl. On March 28, 1948, he married Rosalene M. Schaeffer who survives at home. He was a self employed farmer until 1974. In 1976, he went to work at HRB Singer as a custodian, retiring in 1991.

He served in the US Army during World War II from April 12, 1945 until December 9, 1946. He served with Company F 511th Parashute Infantry. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Ribbon, and an Army of Occupation Medal for Japan.

He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap, where he served on the church council and served as janitor for the church for nearly 10 years. He was a member of Logan Grange in Pleasant Gap and a former member of various farm organizations.

He enjoyed gardening, horse shoe pitching, playing cards, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters, Frances (Fran) E. Breon and her partner Boyd Whitsel of State College, Mary Catherman of rural Bellefonte, Anna Mae Breon and her husband Joseph L. of Bellefonte, and Connie R. Immel and her husband Larry E. of Bellefonte; one son C. Thomas (Tom) Corl and his wife Rosalie of State College; ten grandchildren, one step granddaughter, twelve great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Nelson of Pleasant Gap; two sisters in law, Sarah Corl of Pleasant Gap, and Lois Corl of Bellefonte; three brothers, Alton Corl and his wife Emeline of Pleasant Gap, David Corl and his wife Lois of Centre Hall, and Michael Corl and his wife Donna of Howard. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, James Corl and Budd Corl and one sister, Linda Hoey.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services PC, 1034 Benner Pike State College. Honorary services will be conducted by members of Logan Grange at 9:00 p. m. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 3rd, 2008 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 160 North Main Street, Pleasant Gap with the Reverend Kevin Shock officiating. Internment will be at the Centre County Memorial Park.
