Carl Norman Young, age 91, of Boalsburg, died on January 9, 2009, at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall.
Born January 7, 1918, in Boalsburg, he was a son of the late Roland C. Young and Annie Barr Young.
On April 19, 1956 he married Bernice Margaret Strassner who preceded him in death on November 11, 2003. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold M. Young.
Carl is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a 1936 graduate of the Boalsburg High School, and retired in 1982 from Erie Technological Products of State College.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the Army's 771st Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater of Operations.
He was a member of V.F.W. Post #321 of State College, American Legion Post #779 at Old Fort, State College Lodge #700 Free and Accepted Masons, a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite in the Williamsport Consistory, the Jaffa Shrine Temple of Altoona, and a life member of the State College BPOE Lodge #1600. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golfing.
Friends will be received from 9:30 - 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226-228 Pennsylvania Avenue, Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will follow at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Brent Book officiating. Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery, with full military honors.
