Carol E. Blocksom, 58, of State College, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College. She was born May 31, 1946, a daughter of the late Isadore and Tessie Steinberg-Krohn.. In 1996 she moved to State College from her native hometown of Brooklyn, New York to State College. On December 31, 1996 she married Otho J. Blocksom, Jr. who survives her at home. She was both a devoted wife and mother. Carol loved children and fostered many before becoming "Foster Mother of the Year" for New York's Children Welfare Services. She adopted nine of those she fostered: Dominick, Thomas, Michael, Jennifer, Starr, Christina, Billy, Andrew and Matthew who lives at home. She was a two time cancer survivor and home dialysis patient. She was a faithful member of the State College Assembly of God church. She was preceded in death by two of her children; Billy in 1996 and Andy in 2001. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the State College Assembly of God Church with Pastor Paul Grabill officiating. There will be no public visitation. Family and friends will be received from 2 - 3 p.m. immediately following the funeral in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow in the Boalsburg Cemetery in Boalsburg. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been set up to receive donations in Carol's memory.
