Carol L. Sampsell, 75, of pleasant Gap, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born on October 1, 1941 in Clinton County, she was the daughter of the late Emerson Bowman and Veronica (Kahler) Bowman.

In 1960 she married Ward M. Sampsell, in Bellefonte, who preceded her in death on December 22, 2003.

Carol graduated from the Bellefonte Area High School in 1959 and then went on to work for Plumbs Drug Store in Bellefonte, retiring after 47 years of service. She loved to go camping at the Hidden Valley Campground and spent every summer there with many friends.

Carol is survived by her niece, Susan R. Gummo of Bellefonte; one brother-in-law, Barry Sampsell (Mary Ann) of Centre Hall; five sister-in-laws, Beverly Miller (Ken) of Warriors Mark, Charlotte Smoyer (Sterling) of Runville, Wanda Smith (Barry) of Seymour, TN, JoAnne Altier (Charlie) of Lakeland, FL, and Janet Bowman of Lock Haven. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; her best friends Laura and Mike Reese, and her good neighbor, Bud Perryman.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Emerson James Bowman of Lock Haven and a sister-in-law, Dianne Sampsell of Milesburg.
