Celia L. Jessop's Obituary
Celia L. Jessop, 83, of Milesburg, went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home.
She was born January 14, 1929 in Unionville, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Florence Flick Lucas. Celia was a 1946 graduate of Bellefonte High School.
On August 5, 1960 she married Samuel A. Jessop who preceded her in death September 24, 1990.
Following graduation, she went to work as a secretary for Keckler Chevrolet. She then went to work for Mr. William Litke at the law firm of Fleming and Litke as an administrative assistant. In 1956 she went with Mr. Litke when he founded the University Park Plaza Corporation, to work as an administrative assistant and later as a director, retiring in June 2003.
Mrs. Jessop enjoyed her family, reading, doing crossword puzzles, listening to the Gather Homecoming Gospel Hour program and visiting with friends. She was an active and dedicated member of Fleming Free Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer of the church and various committees in the church, served on the official church board, served as pianist and organist for the church, and worked with Woman's Ministries International. On a church district level she served on various committees for the Free Methodist's Lamar Campground.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda M. Frank and her husband Robert M. of Big Run; one son Robert A. Jessop and his wife Teresa E. of rural Bellefonte, two grandchildren, Michael R. and Ashley E. Jessop; and one brother Lester Lucas and his wife Jane.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Evangeline Lucas.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p. m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, and 10-11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at The Fleming Free Methodist Church, 161 Walnut Street, Fleming. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Reverends Ed Irwin and Ned Burkett officiating.
Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College.
