Obituary

Charles E. "Chuck" Fields, 63, of State College died Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at his home.

He was born November 11, 1954 in Lebanon, PA; a son of the late Allen L. and Patricia A. (Sholley) Fields.

After high school, Chuck joined the United States Navy where he proudly served our country from 1972-1978. The Navy was very near and dear to his heart. He often enjoyed telling stories of his time serving aboard the USS Kitty Hawk or USS Ranger, and kept in touch with his shipmates when he could. After the Navy, he went on to be a machine operator for Alcoa. He worked hard there for most of his adult life.

Chuck was a true lover of Penn State and he enjoyed watching all PSU sports teams, as well as the Green Bay Packers. He loved the State College area so much he retired to Centre County where he was able to support his favorite school and watch the Nittany Lions play in person. He enjoyed target shooting, watching football and other sports, reading and spending time with his son Casey.  He was an incredible and devoted father and will be missed dearly.

Surviving him is a son, Casey Fields (Liz) of Mechanicsburg, and Casey's mom Brenda; four sisters, Brenda Hickernell (Ron) of Elizabethtown, Virginia Noll (Scott) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kristi Lingle (Harry) of Lebanon, Kathi Peiffer (Kurt) of Lebanon; two aunts, Lucile Mann of Robesonia, PA, Lois Golenbewski of Lebanon; one uncle, William Fields ( Mary Ann) of Lebanon; God Son, Jon Noll; his dear friend, Janice Radford, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private committal service with full military honors will be held at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be in his memory to the THON, 277D Hetzel Union Building, University Park, PA 16802.
