Charles V. Miceli, 85, of State College, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at The Fairways at Brookline Village.
He was born on March 4, 1922 in Johnstown, PA to the late Gaetano and Christina DeMaria Miceli.
On October 1, 1955 he married Margaret "Jeanne" Edgett who survives at home.
He proudly served our country as a Seargent in the Army Air Force, 346th Squad, 483rd Bomb Group during WW II as an engineer and bombadier. He was a recipient of The Good Conduct Medal, The Distinguished Unit Badge, The European-American Medal and The Eastern Service Medal with nine (9) Bronze Stars.
He spent over 50 years in automobile sales in State College working with the Dix family from 1957 until his retirement in 2004. Charlie, as he was known to his customers and friends, began his career selling Pontiacs and Cadillacs, and for the last thirty years, he sold Hondas.
He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the State College Elks, B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1600. He was an avid competitive bowler and a member of the Seven Mountains Bowling Association for many years winning many championships. He loved watching Penn State Football and Lady Lions Basketball. However, his passion was golf.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey Barden Miceli and his wife Jackie of Moorestown, NJ; a granddaughter, Meghan Leigh Miceli; a brother, Carmen Miceli of FL; a sister, Connie Infield of State College; four nephews, Jack, Dan, and Jay Infield and Nicholas Hanks; and three nieces, Cathy Hanks Thomas, Elizabeth Taylor-Herdt and Mary Taylor Custer. A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services PC, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Beginning at 3:30 PM on Sunday, a prayer service will be held with an opportunity for family and friends to share their personal memories of Charlie. Also, a funeral mass will held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 7, 2007 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801, with the Monsignor David A. Lockard officiating.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Second Mile, 1402 S. Atherton St., State College, PA 16801 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
