Obituary

Charlie Breon, 62 of State College, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore.
He was born September 2, 1942 in Philadelphia County, a son of the late Pauline Breon Brannon.
In April of 1976 he married Darlene "Dolly" Price who survives at home.
Charlie graduated from McKeesport High school in 1960 and while serving in the U. S. Air Force, he attended Air Craft Mechanics School. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963.
From 1976 to 1978 he served as a District manager for Rockwell International. He later worked at various trucking enterprises including Hawbakers and was a partner in B & B Enterprises and owned Breon Trucking. Charlie also worked as a service writer for Rider Auto and Beman's Auto Service. From 1998 until present Mr. Breon faithfully drove bus # 18 for the State College School district. He had a unique and special relationship with his students.
Uniquely qualified by his own life experiences, Mr. Breon and his wife were involved in foster care since 1992. During their tenure as foster parents, they have cared for scores children in their home. As a foster parent, Charlie always believed in making his foster children part of the family, and included them in all family activities including vacations, rarely if ever using respite care.
Learning was a lifelong process for Charlie who was interested in multiple subjects but especially in computers, cooking and mechanical things.
Earlier in life in the 70's he played drums in various local rock bands. He was an avid Penn State and college football fan. Traveling, especially going to Williamsburg and the Outer Banks, camping, boating fishing, riding motorcycles and any other outdoor activities were special to him. For some time he took a restored 1972 Plymouth Road Runner to various car shows and had a deep appreciation for classic cars. He rarely missed a Sundy NASCAR race and was an avid Dale Ernhardt fan. He loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends.
In addition to his wife Mr. Breon is survived by a daughter Dawn Deanna Breon and her boy friend Michael Knauer of Perry Hall Maryland, a son Scott M. Breon and his wife Jayne of State College, two other children Charles and Dewey both at home, 5 grand children, Chelsey, Kylie, Kason and Katie Breon and Maya Baumgartner, 1 sister, Kathy Krepps of Mifflintown, a great aunt Faye Brannan of Lewistown, and his mother in law Betty Price along with other members of her family.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a brother George Breon.
Friends will be received from 6 - 9 p. m. Thursday, October 21, 2004 at the Assembly of God, 2201 University Drive, State College, PA, and from 10:00 a. m until 11:00 a. m. Friday at the church. The funeral will be at 11:00 a. m. at the church with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Miller officiating. A burial and committal service will be held at Lindd Memorial Cemetery in Lewistown at 3:00 p. m. Friday, October 22, 2004.
