Chiyo Kitaoka, 86, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA
She was born March 21, 1919, in Japan.
She is survived by her daughter with whom she resided, Yuriko Caris, of rural Bellefonte and two sisters, Fumiko Hayashi and Ume Ina both of Japan.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, creating and arranging silk floral arrangements, oil painting, and other art work. She was a master of Yuzen-zome dye method for Kimono. She also enjoyed playing Japanese Koto, Japanese dancing, and creating Haiku poetry.
She was a member of the Haiku Club.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
