Christine M. Alan's Obituary
Christine M. Alan, 46, of State College, died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College; following a courageous four year battle against breast cancer. Christine's positive attitude and smile were an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
She was born June 17, 1963 in Fort Worth, Texas, a daughter of Lt. Col. Robert C. Ferrazza of Toms River, NJ and Diana M. Ferrazza of San Diego, CA.
In October of 1992 she married Robert Alan who survives at home.
Christine graduated from Clairmont High School in San Diego, CA in 1981. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in social ecology at the University of California, Irvine.
She worked in the library at the University of California, San Diego, Irvine and Davis campuses.
While living in the San Diego area, she was a member of LaJolla Presbyterian Church, LaJolla, CA and attended Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church at Lemont while living in the State College area.
Christine most enjoyed spending quality time with family and special friends. Additionally, she loved to read (always had 2 - 3 books going at one time), movies (she loved anything by the Coen brothers), cooking, hand crafts, music and Irish dance.
In addition to her parents and husband, two daughters survive her; Samantha C. and Vanessa A. Alan both at home. She also leaves her pets, Abby, Jeffrey, Coby and Beatrice.
Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, September 23, at Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 E. Branch Road; with the Reverend Howard Woodruff officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Christine's memory may be made to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, 344 N. Reading Road, Ephrata, PA 17522 or to PAWS 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801.
