Clara (Nan) Belle Royer Walker, 96, of Pleasant Gap, passed away, Friday, May 2, 2008 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College, in the presence of her family.
She was born November 15, 1911 in Pleasant Gap; a daughter of the late John Nevin Royer and Jean E. (Lydie) Brooks Royer.
On December 30, 1937, in the State College Lutheran Church, she married Clarence Ray Walker, who passed away April 6, 1969. She was the last of her generation.
Nan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Beverly Jean Walker Paul and Jerry L. Paul of Pleasant Gap; two grandchildren, Tricia Jean Paul Miller (Mark) of Lock Haven, and Jeremy L. Paul of Anneville; two great grandchildren Leanne Margaret-Jean Miller, Heidi Bevin Miller and a step great granddaughter, Jacquelyn Miller all of Lock Haven. Also surviving is her best friend who was like a granddaughter to her, Mary Jo Livergood (Larry) of Pleasant Gap with whom she lived. A sister-in-law Gladys Royer of Niagara Falls, NY, also survives along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her special neighbor and friend of many many years, Freda Moyer.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Royer of Niagara Falls, NY, James Royer of Millheim, and her twin brother, Nevin John Royer of Centre Hall; two sisters, Sarah E. Royer and Annie Royer of Pleasant Gap. Her cousin Joanne Brooks Thal of Pleasant Gap also preceded her in death on March 2, 2008.
Nan was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, watching the Soap Operas on TV with her neighbor, and spending time with her grandchildren and extended family.
Clara was a life long member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap.
Family and friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, and from 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, until the time of the service; at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 160 N. Main St., Pleasant Gap, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m with the Reverend Kevin Shock officiating. Burial will follow in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, West Church St., Centre Hall.
