Clinton LeeRoy Davis, 93, of Boalsburg, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Fairways in Brookline Village. Clinton, the son of the late Herbert Lee and Kaspara Davis, was born in Duluth, Minnesota on September 20, 1917. He married Ethel Swenson in Los Angeles, CA on November 5, 1942. Ethel died on November 22, 1983 and in December of 1984; he married Helen Lee Gingrich. Clint was preceded in death by his siblings Emma Eckberg, Carl Davis, Margaret Hogan, Howard Davis, Audrey Wilson, and Alice Sholberg, Clinton is survived by a brother Lawrence Davis and his wife Mary, a sister Ruth Anderson, sons Timothy Lee Davis and his wife Sherry; and Michael Andrew Davis and his wife Pamela. Also surviving are step-sons, Charles R. Gingrich and his wife Barb, Lt. Col. John B. Gingrich, and Linda Gingrich; grandchildren and step-grandchildren; Brianna Davis, Spencer Davis, Austin Davis, Amanda Valentine, Michelle Davis, Monica Davis, Matthew Gingrich, Jonathan Gingrich, Christopher Gingrich, Janine Gingrich, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Davis was educated in the Duluth, Minnesota school system. He served his country in WW II as an Infantryman with the 7th Army Infantry Division, making Beachhead landings on Attu in the Aleutians and Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. Clint along with his platoon was then deployed to Hickam Field, Hawaii until his discharge in 1945. After the war, he was employed at Oregon State University as Supervisor of Dormitories. In 1952, he accepted a position with Penn State University as Custodial Supervisor in the Physical Plant Department and served in that position for many years. He was then promoted to Building Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 1977. After his retirement Clinton served as a consultant to the Pennsylvania School Study Council working with school districts involving cost studies and efficiency operations. Clinton kept busy as a member of the State College Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, the 7th Infantry Division Association, the 32nd Infantry Regimental Association, the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees, and as Senior Vice -Commander of the Boalsburg Hunter-Myer V.F.W. Post #11321.
Friends will be received at a Memorial Service at 2pm November 6th at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Interment will be in the family plot at the Lake View Cemetery, Windom, Minnesota.
