D. Joan Robinson, 87, resident of Palmyra, left this earth on Sunday May 3, 2020.

Born on June 9, 1932, in Miami County, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Lois (Manchester) Higbee and Professor Howard Higbee.

She was the widow of Gerald R. Robinson since 2005 and was preceded in death by her brother Allen Higbee.

A 1950 graduate of State College High School, she lived many places with her husband after graduation from Penn State University with a BS in the School of Education in 1953.  She enjoyed teaching and volunteer work. She loved animals, traveling to state and national parks, and politics.

Surviving are her children, Susan Robinson of Arnold, California, Mary Shutt of Palmyra and Carrie Cake of Hummelstown; three granddaughters Cassandra Vogel, Jennifer Shutt, and Danielle Cake; three great-grandsons Landon, Declan, and Garrett Vogel.

There will be a private burial in Centre County Memorial Park, State College with a Celebration of Life at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Lebanon Valley, Pennsylvania or the Sierra Club at https://www.sierraclub.org .
