IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Daniel
Bayletts
March 4, 1954 – January 19, 2025
David D. Bayletts, 70, State College, PA unexpectedly passed away with his soulmate Barbara at his side on Sunday, January 19th, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. David left our chaotic, cruel world to the peaceful, loving presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to abide in heaven for eternity.
Born on March 4, 1954, son of the late Norman D. and Prudence B. Bayletts. David graduated from State College Area High School, Class of '72 and attended Penn College (formerly WACC). He completed 37 years of dedicated service to Penn State University beginning in landscape and ending as a Stockroom Group Leader with the majority of time worked at the Office of the Physical Plant Warehouse.
An old soul in a modern tech world and lover of all God's Creation, to say David loved nature is an understatement. You could find him taking long, daily walks in every season encountering everything from bears charging him to guinea pigs needing rescued as well as stray cats after being abandoned by students at the end of the semester. His Christ-like tenderheartedness and David's warm, kind-hearted personality made everyone who met him feel most comfortable especially his beloved animals he cared for daily.
David was a walking encyclopedia of what he called "useless trivia"; however the information on baseball and wrestling greats and statistics, provided hours of excellent conversations, additionally, his parents and brother enjoyed many family outings stopping for a picnic lunch on the way to a Pirates game or Bowman Field in Williamsport for a Minor League Baseball game. Life was full of simple, meaningful connections with friends and immediate family including the endless Summers as a child playing until dark with his brother and neighborhood buddies.
David appreciated musical genres from Mason Proffit band member to now Monk John Michael Talbot's Worship and Praise songs to Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" to his personal favorite artist Bob Dylan's "Masters of War", "You Gotta Serve Somebody", and his album "Christmas in the Heart" especially "Must Be Santa Claus" polka. Since the early 1990's, David has followed Mixed Martial Arts. Participating with his son brought him great enjoyment. As an extension of his interest in MMA, David was an early enthusiast of the Ultimate Fighting Champion – UFC with a knowledge of this sport's history back to the days of the Fertitta brothers and Dana White branding the UFC and restructuring MMA to a sanctioned, controlled, and highly organized combat sport. His favorite ref was Big John McCarthy and many early Hall of Famers through current contenders.
David is survived by his wife Barbara, his son Nathan (Elizabeth), his elder brother Richard (Barbara). Burial will be in the section of Centre County Memorial Park near the statue of the Madonna cradling the infant Jesus next to Babyland where his infant sister, Mary Ann, is laid to rest in addition to his parents and Maria, his first wife and treasured mother of his son. David lived his life with prayer, contemplative study of the word of God, humility, integrity and faithfulness in Jesus. He extended great love and devoted care to his family, and greatly enjoyed each of his friends, who each will deeply miss him.
