David Oscar Eckley, 84 of Bellefonte, PA, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2022. David was born in Bellefonte to the late Edgar and Anna (McMullen) Eckley.
Along with his parents, David was predeceased by his brothers, Edgar Eckley, Jr. and Fred Eckley; his sister, Verna (Eckley) Kline; brother-in-law, Donald Kline and daughter, Lee Ann Eckley. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Connie (Brooks) Eckley; children, Suzanne Taylor of Bellefonte, Jane (Rick) Stine of Howard and Dave (Heather) Eckley of State College; grandchildren, Lucas (Kate) Stine, Lacey (Chelsea) Evans, Jordan Taylor and Alicia Eckley; great-grandchildren, Nohea, Meeka and Mylo Evans and Ellie Stine; siblings, twin brother Dale (Helen) Eckley and Danny (Nellie) Eckley; brothers and sisters - in - law, Beverly Eckley, Jim McMullen and Sam Keller and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
David was proud to have grown up in Coleville and enlisted in the Army right out of high school and traveled the world. He was stationed overseas and in the Continental United States. He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired after 37 years from the Army Reserves where he achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CW3). He and his wife bought their first house in Boalsburg where they lived and made many great memories for 45 years. He enjoyed traveling and continued traveling in his retirement with many vacations to Disney and different beaches with his family. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He enjoyed time with his family playing card games and putting puzzles together.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in David's honor to any charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Advantage Home Health Services and UPMC Family Hospice for their compassion and care.
