David G. Homan, 68, of Centre Hall, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall, after six months of illness, as a result of complications from a brain tumor.
He was born February 20, 1941, in Spring Township, a son of the late George W. and Ruth A. Burris Homan.
On February 14, 1960, he married Mary H. Spayd who survives at home.
David was a 1959 graduate of Penns Valley High School.
He was employed by Balfurd Cleaners in State College for nearly thirty-eight years, retiring in 2005.
An active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, he served several terms on church council, and served on the property committee devoting many hours to church maintenance. He was also a member of the A.S.A Umpires Association, having served as a softball umpire for many years; and was a member of the Centre Hall Farmer's and Businessmen's Association.
David enjoyed bowling having bowled on several leagues. His proudest accomplishment was rolling a 300 game. He also enjoyed hunting and especially the hunting trips to Colorado with family and friends; and spending time at their hunting camp.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by one son, Bryan David Homan and his wife Crystal of Bellefonte; two daughters, Sylvia Jane Auman and her husband Brian of Centre Hall, and Judith Lorraine Homan of Sanborton, NH; two grandchildren Stephanie Marie Homan of Bellefonte and Nathan David Auman of Centre Hall and one step granddaughter Jennifer L. Grove and her husband Brian of Howard; three sisters Linda V. Wolfe and her husband Daniel of Williamsport, Connie L. Perry and her husband Robert of Bellefonte, Kathy R. Crissinger and her husband Terry of Coburn; ten brothers, Nevin G. Homan and his wife Norma Jean, Ronald K. Homan and his wife Patty, Harold G. Homan and his wife Ginny, Roy C. Homan and his wife Gay, Jerry E. Homan and his wife Judy, Carl V. Homan and his wife Diane, Larry D. Homan and his wife Donna, and Kevin L. Homan all of Centre Hall, Barry G. Homan of State College, and Bruce A. Homan and his wife Brenda of Madisonburg.
Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Friday, February 27, 2009, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be at 1:30 p. m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at the church with the Reverend Doctor Barry Folmar officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
