Dean R. Owens Sr. 78, of Bellefonte, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the Clearfield Hospital in Clearfield.
He was born March 19, 1932, a son of the late Jeremiah B. and Jennie L. Stover Owens.
On May 31, 1979, he married Phyllis L. Miller who survives in Clearfield.
Dean attended Axemann and Henderson schools.
Early in life, Mr. Owens worked in construction and later for National Gypsum Corporation. Later in life, he worked in various positions in the lime production industry, working for Domtar Inc. and at Con Lime in Bellefonte until his retirement.
He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jennie L. Whitman and Tracey Dreibelbis; two sons Dean R. Jr. and Boyd D. Owens; one brother, Jerry B. Owens, Jr.; five sisters Betty Homan, Jane Auman, Nancy Martin, Shirley Kelley and his twin sister Dorothy Barndt Rockey; two step-children, Judy R. Weller and Gary L. Whitehead; 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by one daughter, Marcella Ann Owens, two sisters, three brothers and three step children.
Friends will be received 1-2 PM, Friday, July 2, 2010 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Funeral Services will follow at 2 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, State College, PA
