She grew up in Abington Township in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and graduated from Abington High School. She is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, from which she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in June 1969. While attending Penn State, she participated in many student activities and was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority.
After graduating from Penn State, Diane began her professional career with the Republican National Committee in Washington, DC, where she was the first head of its Opposition Research Department. Thereafter, she was employed by US Senator Glenn Beale of Maryland, and at the White House under President Gerald R. Ford.
Diane returned to State College, a community she loved, in 1978 to continue her political consulting business and enter graduate school at Penn State, from which she received a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science in November 1981. Throughout much of her life she was involved in national, local, and county politics as both a paid consultant and a volunteer. Diane was a kind and caring person, who always had one or more adopted cats as part of her family.
