Obituary

Dominic M. Persia, 91, of Boalsburg, died Monday, June 25, 2012, in Bellefonte.
He was born November 14, 1920, in Holley, NY, a son of the late John and Mary (Monticelli) Persia.
On December 15, 1972, in State College he married Annabelle Frye who survives at home.
Dominic was a WWII army veteran. He earned a Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster, a Bronze Star Medal, and a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with a Bronze Service Arrowhead, for his distinguished service. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in State College; where he was very active in and devoted to the Brotherhood Sunday School Class, having served as a past president and secretary. He was also a former member of the BPOE 1600 and American Legion Post 245 both in State College.
He was a 1939 graduate of Holley High School. Dominic began his working career in 1940 working for his brother at Persia's Shoe Store. He retired in 1983 from Bottorf Shoe Store.
Surviving is one son Michael E. Persia of Ames, Iowa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Pete, Phillip, Julio and Edward, and a sister Kathern.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p. m. until time of service at 1:30 p. m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Burial with military honors will follow in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
