Donna M. Tipton, 66, of Penns Manor, Centre Hall, formerly of Tipp City, Ohio, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College.
She was born Aug. 12, 1938 in West Milton, Ohio, a daughter of Edith Oakes Sotzing who survives in Englewood, OH and the late Galen Sotzing.
On May 21, 1967 in Clayton, OH, she married Charles Tipton who survives in Centre Hall, PA.
Donna graduated from Milton Union High School in West Milton, OH in 1956 and from Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana with a Bachelor's degree in Education. In 1995 she completed her Master of Education degree at Wright State University in Dayton, OH.
She worked as a public school teacher for 34 years having taught fourth grade most of that time, retiring in 2000. She also worked at the Tipp City Public Library following her retirement. Mrs. Tipton was a Jennings Scholar.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall and was formerly a member of Tipp City United Methodist Church and the West Charleston Church of the Brethren. At the various churches she was active in the choir, the United Methodist Woman's group, working with youth, and served on the administrative board, having served as chairperson, of the Tipp City United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed reading, playing a Dulcimer, music and working with children.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two sons, Gregory A. Tipton of Wilmington, OH and Timothy D. Tipton of Tipp City, OH; 4 grandchildren, Galen W. C. , Nathan D. A., Benjamin D and Dillon R. Tipton; two sisters, Judith A. Tipton of Tipp City, OH and Jean Ziermaier of Columbus, OH
Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Thursday, March 17, 2000 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. An additoinal visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p. m. Sunday, March 20, 2005 at the Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH. The funeral will be at 10:00 a. m. Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Tipp City United Methodist Church, 8 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, OH.
