Doris Marie Kennedy Raup, 91, of Pleasant Gap, died Thursday, September 6, 2007, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
She was born April 20, 1916, in Altoona a daughter of the late Allen Stewart and Elsie Maude Adams Kennedy.
On August 31, 1941, she married the Reverend Donald Geiger Raup who preceded her in death on May 24, 1999.
Mrs. Raup is survived by two sons and their families, Glenn A. P. Raup and his wife Annette of Carlisle, PA, and their children Christopher and his wife Jennifer, and Lisa Svard and her husband Fredrik and their children Avery and Ella; and Carl M. L. Raup and his wife Lana of State College, and their children, Alex Raup and Stacey Saritelli and her husband John and their child Enzo; and two sisters, Maxine Sorge of Altoona, and Muriel Tenney of Marcus Hook, PA
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Conrad and two infant siblings.
Doris was a 1934 graduate of Altoona Senior High School, and attended Zeth Business School in Altoona.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a secretary for Penn Electric in Altoona. While her husband was attending seminary in Gettysburg, she worked as a secretary at the seminary and for the Gettysburg Rationing Board. Following their move to Centre County, while her husband was serving churches in Boalsburg, Pleasant Gap and Shiloh, Mrs. Raup was employed as a secretary and office manager for Centre County Community Action Inc. She also served as a volunteer at the Centre County Library in Bellefonte, the former Centre Community Hospital and the Bellefonte Office of the American Cancer Society.
She was a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church and the ladies guild of the church.
Quilting, crossword puzzles, writing to friends and reading were among the things she enjoyed most.
Friends will be received from 10 - 11:30 a. m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The funeral will be at 11:30 a. m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Dean Rupe officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family, in Zion Cemetery, Zion, PA
