Dorothy(Dot)M. McGovern, 69, of Bellefonte, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 2, 1935 in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Andrew and Clair Stiver Gordon.
On December 8, 1956 she married Glenn P. McGovern who died March 13, 1999.
Dot, a dedicated homemaker, was employed as a school crossing guard in the Bellefonte School District for 26 1/2 years, and was awarded a plaque from the Bellfonte Police Department for that service.
Mrs. McGovern was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Bellefonte and was active in the missions programs there.
She enjoyed crocheting and other handicrafts, putting jig saw puzzles together, shopping and gardening, especially working with flowers and raising tomatoes.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Gwen McGovern of Bellfonte, Sallie Huey of rural Spring Mills, Karen Lea Earlandt of Berwick, and April K. Carl of Catawissa; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Being the last of her generation, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a. m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 321 E. Howard St. Bellefonte. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 a. m. at the church with the Rev. William H. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Zion Union Cemetery, Zion, PA
