Dorothy P. Hayes, 83, of Bellefonte, PA formerly of Port Charlotte and Fort Myers, FL, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center.
She was born in Toledo, OH on December 28, 1923 to the late William and Nell Osgood Packer.
She served honorably in US Marine Corp during WW II stationed in Hawaii.
She was for many years married to Wayne Hayes who preceded her in death. They together raised five children and had many adventures, living in various parts of the country.
She is survived by three daughters, Leslie Fellows of Atlanta, GA, Dee Bagshaw and her husband Gary of State College, PA, Lauren Patterson of Palm City, FL; two sons, Bill Hayes of Oklahoma City, OK, Tyler Hayes and his wife Joyce of Berthoud, CO; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and her loyal companion dog, Oscar.
After raising her family she returned to college and received an accounting degree. She moved to FL and opened up her private practice as a CPA.
She loved playing golf and bridge. After moving to PA she enjoyed the friendships she made and the activities of the Red Hat Ladies group.
She will be remembered by her family and friends, for her spirit, quiet independence and dry wit.
Visitation and services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
