Dorothy Parker, 81, of State College, died Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg.
Born July 9, 1933 in Snow Shoe she was the daughter of the late Willis A. Sr. and Pearl M. (Confer) Johnson
.
On June 24, 1950 in Bellefonte she married Ira C. Parker who preceded her in death on August 5, 1994.
Dorothy was a member of the Black Panther Camping Club in Spring Mills, a life member of the Grange Fair, and attended the Free Methodist Church in State College.
Dorothy was a nanny who helped raise many children in the State College area.
She enjoyed traveling, camping and Penn State football, but her greatest joy was her spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Linda K Gummo (William "Bill") of Port Matilda and Joanne L. Bloom (Steve) of Pine Grove Mills; one brother, Willis A. Johnson, Jr. (Barbara) of Pleasant Gap; one sister, Donna Huntington (Elmer "Bud") of Jersey Shore; four grandchildren, Jason (Tabitha) Gummo, Jacob (Heather) Gummo, Heidi Walk and Tracy (Wade) Gardner; eight great grandchildren, Jared, Madi, Averey, Kelsey, Jacey, Hope, Kylie and Landon.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Edward I. Parker on June 19, 2012 and a sister Gloria Ring on June 2, 2002.
Visitation will be 10-11 AM, Friday, October 17, 2014 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A Funeral service will follow at 11:00 at the funeral home with the Rev. Todd Templeton officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
