Dorothy M. Miller, 81, of Lemont, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at her residence.
She was born on June 23, 1928 in Marengo, a daughter of the late Luther Howard and Florence A. (Gates) Rider.
On July 6, 1947 in Marengo, she was married to Dean B. Miller, who survives at home.
Mrs. Miller co-owned, with her husband, and was the office manager of Dean's Gulf on Water Street in Bellefonte for many years. She also had served as an office manager at Miller-McVeigh Ford and retired in 1990 from Chem-Cut as an Accounting Clerk.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Serving as matriarch of her close-knit family, she valued, enjoyed, and cherished the special times with her family, especially the traditional family holidays and get-togethers. To her, family was the center of her life.
In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, hooking rugs, and sewing. She also loved to go rv-ing and spend the winter months in Florida.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Darla M. Hanlen (Harvey) of Boalsburg, and Debbie M. Behers (Kurt) of Spring Mills; two sons, Dennis B. of Halfmoon Twp., and David B. (Robyn) of Philipsburg; four brothers, Lynn Rider (Immelda) of Stormstown, John Rider (Irene) of Marengo, Dave Rider (Frances) of Marengo, and Larry Rider (Libby) of Marengo; one sister, Joyce Brown of Milesburg; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise M. Hosterman on April 8, 1989; a daughter in law, Cindy Miller; one brother, Howard Rider; and one sister, Betty Hammond.
All services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
