Dorothy Jean Smalley, 83, of Pleasant Gap passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte.
Born April 5, 1932, in Portage, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph and Dorothy (Burke) Erzal. On August 27, 1955, she married Richard E. Smalley who survives at home.
She was a member of St. John's The Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Portage High School, and employed at Penn State in the bakery department. She retired from Penn State in 1992.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by one son; Richard S. Smalley (Cathie) of Spring Mills; two sisters, Sister Marie Chabenel of N.C., Marie Kuchera of FL; four grandchildren, Nicole Smalley (Josh), Mathew Gross, Jason, and Carly; one great-grandchild, Kamryn, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one daughter, Becky Smalley; two sisters, Mary and Ruth; three brothers, Bill, Paul, and Bob, and one niece, Connie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 4, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. at St. John's The Evangelist Catholic Church, 116 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823, with Father George Jackpac officiating.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
