E. Gladys Burkholder, 90 of Centre Hall, died Friday, August, 11, 2006 at the Fairways at Brookline Village.
She was born October 7, 1915 in Potter Township, a daughter of the late Robert M. and Mary Cora Hazel Smith.
On August 7, 1936 she married Carl F. Burkholder who preceded her in death on January 17, 1995.
Mrs. Burkholder graduated from Centre Hall Potter High School.
She was a homemaker, and for over fifty years served as the local Registrar for the Division of Vital Records.
Gladys was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Centre Chapter 207, having served as Worthy Matron.
She enjoyed playing the piano and taught piano lessons from her home for many years.
Surviving are her daughter Mary Kay Heiser and her husband Wallace of Centre Hall; two grandsons, Bradley W. Heiser of Ligonier, PA and Brian C. Heiser and his wife Theresa of Centre Hall; two great grandchildren, Evan and Marisa Heiser; and one sister Roberta Breon of Centre Hall.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter and son who were twins; two sisters, Marian E. Smith, and Sarah H. Luse; and nine half brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Friends will be received immediately following the service in the Ash Fellowship Hall of the church. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, W. Church St. Centre Hall, PA at the convenience of the family.
