Obituary

Earl F. Stover, 88, of State College, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born February 8, 1924, in Youngstown, OH, he was a son of the late Horace and Verna (Bower) Stover.
On June 12, 1948, in Youngstown, OH, he married Audrey Retzer, who survives at home.
He was a WWII Army Air Force veteran and was one of the armies' first radar specialists. He graduated from Westminster College with a Business Administration degree. He continued with his education obtaining a CPCU insurance degree. He was the Claims Superintendent for State Farm Insurance in State College and Duncansville, prior to his retirement in 1982.
Earl was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, vegetable gardener, and aspiring artist who enjoyed water color painting. While growing up, he spent summers in Aaronsburg with his grandparents, where he became a lifelong Penn State football fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Dr. Phillip Earl Stover, a Family Practice physician in Louisburg, NC and his wife Judy, Cheryl Handte and her husband Dr. Gordon Handte, a Pathologist at Mount Nittany Medical Center and J.C. Blair Hospital, of Boalsburg, Dennis A. Stover, a retired Senior VP at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh and his wife Regina, Patricia Breneman a twenty-five year employee of IBM and currently a church secretary for Central United Methodist Church in Endicott, NY and her husband Douglas; two sisters, Jean Quinn of State College and Isabelle Rudinsky of Youngstown, OH; five grandchildren, Michelle Stover Hildreth (Corbin) and Ashley Stover both of Raleigh, NC, Christopher Breneman of Endicott, NY, Lynne Handte of Bethel Park and Maura Handte of Boalsburg; and one great grandson, Calum Hildreth.
Visitation will be from 1:30 - 3:00 pm Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with the Reverend Susan Reisinger officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
