Edward (Ed) E. Dean, 54, of rural Centre Hall, died Monday, January 20, 2014, at Mount Nittany Medical Center at State College.
He was born April 25, 1959, in Bellefonte, a son of the late John and Virginia Wagner Dean.
On August 27, 1985 he married Barbara A. Moore who survives at home.
Ed graduated from Penns Valley Area High School in 1977 and attended Centre County Vocational Technical Institute. He worked as a driver for CATA in State College for eighteen years and earlier in life worked as a mechanic.
He loved being out of doors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed woodworking and mechanical work. He was fascinated with and by wolves and had a deep interest in various kinds and styles of knives.
Surviving in addition to his wife Barbara are two sons, Thomas (Tom) E. Dean and his wife Kimberly of Centre Hall, and Patrick (Pat) R. Dean at home; five sisters MaryKay Bilger (Guy) of Lewistown, Betty Maserick (Paul) of Harrisburg, Sandra Fultz (David) of Lewistown, Roberta Warner (Jim) and Cheryl Immel (Bob) both of Spring Mills; five brothers, William Dean of Madisonburg, Michael Dean of California, Charles Dean of Harrisburg, Paul Dean of Huntingdon and Greg Dean (Trish) of Springfield, PA; and sister in law Rose Gettig (Randy) of Bellefonte.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece Brittany Immel, a nephew David Fultz, his mother and father in law Kenneth and Betty Moore and a brother in law Barry Moore.
Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the funeral home with his brother in law Pastor David Fultz officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, West Church St., Centre Hall.
