Eleanor Ruth Bigelow Zindler, 91, of State College, PA, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Wynwood House. She was born on October 4, 1932, in Huntingdon, PA, daughter of the late Walter Bigelow and Katharine (Parsons) Bigelow. She grew up in Huntingdon and Altoona, PA, graduating from Altoona High School in 1950. She then graduated from Zeth Business School in Altoona.

Eleanor was employed by Penn State University, first in the Ordnance Research Lab (now the Applied Research Lab), then in Distance Education, World Campus, all at University Park, PA. She enjoyed watercolor painting, doing needlework, and puzzle books. Eleanor was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, State College, where she taught Sunday School and served on various Church Committees.

Eleanor was predeceased by a brother, Reverend Edwin L. Bigelow. She is survived by two sons, Craig Zindler, of Harrisburg, PA and Alan Zindler, of Honor, MI; daughters-in-law, Susan Zindler of Harrisburg and Carol Zindler of Honor; grandson, Brian Zindler of San Francisco, CA; granddaughter, Maura Rothman (Jonathan) of Highland Park, IL and nephews, Lindsay Bigelow of Ocala, FL and Christopher Bigelow of Ramsey, NJ.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 10:00am – 11:00am immediately followed by a memorial service at 11:00am at the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home 1034 Benner Pike State College, PA 16801. Private ennichement will take place at Centre County Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
