Obituary

Elizabeth "Bette" B. Casselberry, beloved mother of Loretta C. Scheffley and Marsha K. Quilty, eldest of nine children born to Mary Ellen and Jewett Brooks, passed away June 10,2005 in Sarasota, FL. where she resided since 1978.
She was born January 3,1912 in Axemann and was a graduate of Centre Hall Potter High School, class of 1931.
She married Raymond C. Casselberry, a graduate of Mooseheart on June 11,1932. Upon his death in 1952 in Princeton, W.Va. she returned to State College and was employed at Penn State University in the Animal Husbandry Dept. In 1958 she began work in Syracuse, NY for Bristol Myers Squibb Co. in the Cancer Research Dept. She retired as a laboratory technician in 1977.
She was a life member and a Past Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose, chapter #105, in Syracuse, NY. She received the Academy of Friendship Degree in 1951 and achieved the highest degree, the College of Regents Degree, in 1970. She was also an 18 year member of the ladies auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2756 in Sarasota, FL.
She was a member of the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, Pleasant Gap, PA and the Trinity United Methodist Church in Sarasota, FL.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents Mary Ellen and Jewett Brooks; husband Raymond C. Casselberry; son Don Ray Casselberry; brothers: LeRoy, Lynn, Harold, Raymond and Paul Brooks; sisters Louise Brooks and Esther Wilson; and grandson William "Billy" Scheffley Jr.
Survivors include daughters Loretta C. Scheffley and husband William of Wescoville, PA; Marsha K. Quilty and husband Benjamin of Sarasota, FL; sister Joan Knoffsinger and husband Fred of Pleasant Gap, PA; sister-in-law Gerri Brooks of Centre Hall, PA; granddaughter Cheryl Sarangoulis and husband Kenny of Reading, PA; grandsons Raymond Scheffley and wife Chris of Drums, PA and Timothy Quilty of Syracuse, NY; seven great-grandchildren; nine nieces and five nephews.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on August 13,2005 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services PC., 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA, 16801, with the Rev. Carl Hill officiating.
