Ellen M. Young, 72, of Spring Mills, died Friday, August 8, 2008, at her home, surrounded by family, having fought a long and courageous battle with Kidney Cancer.
She was born March 21, 1936, in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late David L. Tressler Sr. and Adeline E. Conaway Tressler.
On April 11, 1959 she married Albert L. Young Jr. who survives at home.
She was a 1956 graduated of Indiana Joint High School in Indiana, PA
Mrs. Young retired from Gettig Pharmaceutical in Spring Mills.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an exceptionally accomplished pie baker.
In addition to her husband she is survived by five children, Terry E. Strouse and her husband Joseph of Hublersburg, Paul H. Young and his wife Jody of rural Spring Mills, Lisa M. Komidar and her husband Frank of Philipsburg, Albert L. Young III and his wife Sherri of Philipsburg, and Barry D. Young of Spring Mills; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Ross, Sarah, Cameo, Mindy, Chris, Shawn, Diana and David; two step granddaughters, Laura and Angie; and three step great grandchildren, Sage, Kaia and Mark James; four sisters, Ethel Horner of rural Port Matilda, Louise Kline of Bellefonte, Pauline Douty of Loganton, and Gloria McCintic of North Carolina; and one brother, Leonard Tressler and his wife Marsha, of Moshannon.
Her parents and the following sibling preceded her in death; Thomas Tressler, Hazel Conaway, Agnes Owens, Bernice McFall, David l. Tressler Jr., Melvin Tressler, Kenneth Tressler and Sharon Fetzer.
At her request there will be no public viewing. A memorial service celebrating her life, will be held at 5:00 p. m. Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at the Gregg Township Fire Hall, Fire Hall Road, Spring Mills, PA.(Fire Hall Road is part of the current Route 45 detour) A fellowship meal will be served at 6:00 p. m. at the Fire Hall. All are encouraged to attend, fellowship, and share memories, in honor of Ellen's loving to cook and serve meals to family and friends.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
